Special Interest Groups
All SIGs—Special Interest Groups—are informal and most meet irregularly. Each SIG makes its own decisions about when to meet and what to discuss, etc. A SIG is the responsibility of the Comadre who choose to become a SIG lead. SIGs are set up through Nora Comstock and they include the following subjects with examples of what they might enjoy:
- Cooking SIG—decides where and what to cook
- Film SIG—decides to watch films at someone's home or go to a local showing or both
- Garden SIG—goes to group members' homes to enjoy their gardens or visit some garden shop or aboretum
- Health/Exercise SIG—usually start out with a gathering to figure out how to proceed and then they schedule times and locations
- Prayer SIG—an online non-denominational SIG. A prayer request is posted on the listserv and Comadres and friends take the request and support on their own and/or with other groups
Most of the SIGs are active in Austin only at this time. If you want to activate a SIG in your city or want to join a SIG, please send an email with the subject—Special Interest Group: identify group to which you want to start or subscribe.
